The technology giant plans to invest 650 million dollars in Spain over the next five years to accelerate the digital transformation trend, part of which will be invested into building a 2,500 sqm cybersecurity centre in Malaga to establish the first Google Cloud Region in Spain.
The Google centre will be located in Paseo de la Farola and will offer training, talks, workshops and mentoring on cybersecurity, research and product development, as reported by the company in a statement.
Colliers will be in charge of the building’s project management and construction management. The asset has been vacant for more than two decades and will require a complete refurbishment before opening in 2023. It aims to become a benchmark centre in the international fight against cyber-attacks.
According to Fuencisla Clemares, head of Google Iberia, «Without a doubt, the opening of this new centre of excellence for cybersecurity in Malaga will strengthen the growth of innovation and prepare our society to face cybersecurity, a key challenge to digitization «.
Google’s new Center of Excellence for Cyber Security is a project equivalent to the announced centre in Milan for artificial intelligence or the cloud centre of excellence in India.
