Spanish engineering giant, Idom, hires Savills to sell Madrid & Bilbao HQs

Spanish architect and engineering company Idom appoints Savills to find a buyer for the firm’s headquarters in Madrid and Bilbao, seeking €100m for both on a sale and leaseback basis.

Founded in 1957, IDOM is an independent multinational company that offers professional integrated services in consulting, engineering and architecture with a presence in 125 countries from 40 offices across the world.

From delivering Hawaii’s new Mauna Kea Spectroscopic Explorer telescope to explore the universe to designing the new football stadium for Atlético de Madrid, IDOM is present in a plethora of different projects which include water management, telecommunications, energy, infrastructure, healthcare and architecture amongst others.

The Basque firm is planning to sell its offices in Madrid’s Montecarmerlo neighborhood as well as their main HQ in Bilbao’s Deusto neighbourhood in front of Zorrotzaurre and near landmarks like the Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim museu, the Iberdrola tower and Robert Stern’s Zubiarte shopping centre.

IDOM’s Bilbao asset has an area of ​​14,000 square meters dedicated to offices, research and common areas housing about 800 employees. The Madrid property, is located on nº 4 of the Avenida del Monasterio de El Escorial and has about 10,000 square meters above ground and another 7,000 square meters below ground.
