Blackstone has paid €210 million (€8,000 per m²) for Grupo Planeta‘s Catalonian HQ located on Barcelona’s Avenida Diagonal. The divestment forms part of Inversiones Hemisferio‘s debt restructuring process which is owned by the Lara family and has a debt of c. €270 million with Banc Sabadell. Grupo Planeta will continue to be a tenant in the building which has 27,000m² of GLA of which 25,000m² corresponds to office space.
Grupo Planeta was founded by José Manuel Lara Hernández in 1949 and is the world’s seventh largest publishing group, first in Spain and Latin America. The group owns over 170 publishing brands and has over 9,000 staff worldwide. The group moved its registered corporate & fiscal headquarters from Barcelona to Madrid (Calle Josefa Valcárcel, nº 42) in late 2017.
