Dutch development and construction company, Ten Brinke, has purchased a 50,000m2 plot in Ciempozuelos (region of Madrid), where it plans to build a retail park which will include food & beverage operators as well as a leisure component. Construction is expected to begin in the next few weeks.

This acquisition follows the company’s completion last November of a 10,000m2 retail park in Algete, another town in the region of Madrid. Last year, the group also finalized the construction of a retail scheme in the Villalonquéjar Industrial Park in Burgos, anchored by a Bricomart DIY store.

In the city of Madrid, Ten Brinke is currently developing a smaller retail project on an 8,184m2 plot. It will be anchored by Aldi and AhorraMás supermarkets set across three storeys and will serve the Mirasierra neighbourhood in the district of Fuencarral-El Pardo.

Led by Jörg Tiggemann, the Dutch company is also active in the region of Andalucía although it is said to have cancelled a retail project in Malaga on the industrial site of the former Salyt brick factory. Also, in Andalucía, Ten Brinke has presented a new project in the town of San Fernando in Cadiz where it plans to invest €20 million to create a 15,000m2 retail park in the Tiro Janer complex of the town of San Fernando anchored by Mercadona and McDonald’s. The retail park is expected to open in 2020.

According to the Diari de Tarragona, Ten Brinke is also one of two options being considered by the town hall to purchase 68,000m2 of retail land for which IKEA had a purchase option which it will not exercise. The other party being considered is Bogaris, led by the Charlo family.
